Blossomwood Farmstead

Blossomwood Farmstead | Yachats, OR

Blossomwood Farmstead is a 42 acre farm located in the heart of the Yachats River Valley in Oregon. To create the visual identity of the brand, I thought deeply about what the most important aspects were. It came down to: Permaculture, Art, Craft, and Magic.

For the name and logo, I chose to focus on old-fashion words and graphics. This tied in beautifully with Blossomwood Farmstead’s commitment to use as many natural farming methods as possible.

My additional work includes the mission, web site, and social media. I developed products, created distribution channels, and managed volunteers. Over my time there I built and developed a large number of projects. I also designed product labels, swag, and updated social media channels including photography and copy.

I’m really proud of the Blossomwood Farmstead instagram. Over the course of one year I grew it to close to 1,000 followers, which is not bad for a small farm in a remote location!

Here are some highlights from the feed.

The farm has a one hundred year old black walnut tree. With the husks of the walnuts, I developed ink, along with product labels. I sold these via social media to artists throughout the country.

I used the ink myself to create the botanical drawing on the label.

One of the biggest draws to the farm was eggs! Farm fresh eggs from hens raised on organic feed can’t be beat. I offered both chicken and quail eggs. I sourced my birds carefully, selecting varieties that would produce the most colorful eggs. Customers loved them!

I raised heritage Gotland sheep. Beyond natural pasture management, these beauties also offered naturally silver fleece, which I learned to spin into wool. This added another product to the farm’s offerings.
